A retrofit is judged on whether the existing building is upgraded, working, and back in use without disrupting what could not stop — and that is a specialist discipline, not a general build. Installers Ghana strips out, upgrades, and refurbishes existing buildings — services upgrades, refurbishment install, and retrofit in occupied premises — to programme and to standard, since 1988. Why Clients Choose Installers Ghana
Retrofit Is What We Do
Working with what is already built, sequencing services upgrades and refurbishment into an occupied building, coordinating MEP with finishes — the specialist discipline that a general build is not set up for.
A Real Cost, From a BoQ
We do not quote a guessed per-square-metre rate. A quantity surveyor surveys the existing building, then prepares a Bill of Quantities against the upgrade scope, so you commit on a measured cost and a real phasing programme.
Built to Code, Coordinated
We upgrade to the Ghana Building Code (GS 1207:2018), coordinating strip-out, partitions, ceilings, finishes, and MEP so the trades do not clash and the occupied building keeps working.
Backed in Writing
We stand behind the retrofit with a written workmanship warranty.
What We Retrofit & Upgrade
| Project | What we deliver |
|---|---|
| Services upgrade | MEP replacement and integration into an existing building |
| Refurbishment install | Partitions, ceilings, finishes renewed to current standard |
| Occupied-premises retrofit | Phased upgrade around a building that stays in use |
| Strip-out & rebuild | Out with what failed, in with the upgraded fabric |
| Compliance upgrade | Existing building brought up to the Ghana Building Code |
Our Retrofit Process
- Survey the existing building — what is there, what is failing, what stays.
- BoQ & phasing plan — a measured cost and a programme that keeps the building usable.
- Strip-out & upgrade install — every trade sequenced around the occupied use.
- Snag, commission & handover — refurbished, working, ready to re-occupy.
- Warranty — written workmanship warranty.
What It Costs — Honestly
There is no honest per-square-metre retrofit rate — the cost depends on the condition of the existing building and the scope of the upgrade. The real cost comes from a Bill of Quantities measured against your scope after a survey. We prepare one so you budget against a real number. (Material and finish prices move — cement roughly GH₵85–130/bag, finishes by specification — which is why a measured BoQ beats a guess, especially when the strip-out reveals what is behind the wall.)
Credentialed & Accountable
- Upgrades to Ghana’s building regulations (L.I. 1630) and the Ghana Building Code (GS 1207:2018)
- Registered engineering (GhIE) and quantity-surveying (GhIS) input where the retrofit requires it
- Building-permit and EPA permitting (L.I. 1652) handled where the work requires it
- Established 1988 — a real fit-out and retrofit specialist with a portfolio and a written warranty

Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a building retrofit cost in Ghana? There is no honest per-square-metre rate — it depends on the existing building’s condition and the upgrade scope. The real cost comes from a BoQ measured against your scope after a survey; we prepare one so you budget against a real number.
Can you retrofit a building while it stays in use? Yes — we phase the upgrade around the building’s operation, work out of hours where needed, and protect occupied areas so it keeps working through the refurbishment.
What does a retrofit specialist do that a general contractor does not? Working with what is already built, sequencing services upgrades into an occupied building, and coordinating MEP with finishes — a specialist discipline since 1988.
Do you upgrade MEP and services, not just finishes? Yes — services upgrades are core to a retrofit, coordinated with the refurbishment finishes so the upgraded building works.
